Our final week round-up in August features a new-found love of podcasts and four trends that will help you get to grips with social media.
TWO PEAS IN A POD by LIZ STOUT
This week I have been embracing my love affair with podcasts. We’ve been acquainted for a while, I just never felt committed. Until a friend of mine started recording one called ‘Discovery Matters’. He’s hot on life sciences (and very clever), so it’s a learning curve I’m loving.
I now understand how jam played a part in paving the way for bio pharmaceutical drugs and that a single hamster has been a force of innovation and massive biomedical production. Who knew? Admittedly, my podcast tastes are steadily moving more towards less taxing topics. Regardless, my new listening matter is providing my playlists with a well-earned rest and diverting me away from Brexit bulletins. And that’s got to be a good thing.
GETTING TO GRIPS WITH SOCIAL MEDIA by Luke De Benedictis
Getting to grips with social media can be tough, let alone keeping up with all the social media trends. These four trends will help you reach your audience on a deeper level and show you are comfortable in the social space.
- By integrating Instagram stories into your social media usage, you create another touchpoint for your customers. Instagram TV is over a year old and another offering that we would recommend utilising, however this is one that requires more thought than Instagram Stories to ensure it delivers.
- Live streaming on Facebook or Instagram allows your followers to experience the brand in a more unique way to a regular post. Live streaming is an excellent feature if you want to promote an event, product demonstration or to go behind the scenes.
- Hashtags are the easiest way to track activity on social media. An effortless way to do this is to create a specific hashtag for your product/campaign/event. You'll be able to see your campaign content plus it allows your followers to join in on the conversation.
- Using social influencers to promote your brand or product helps you reach more people and makes your brand seem more approachable. The accounts put a face to your brand and provide customer testimonials, making it seem more reliable to followers.
