Last night I was lucky enough to attend the prestigious Lloyds Bank Business Awards where our lovely client Verdant Leisure was shortlisted in two categories; the customer focus award and the mid-market business of the year award.
Verdant Leisure is a bespoke holiday park operator offering self-catering holidays and holiday home ownership at its nine holiday parks across Scotland and the north of England.
Verdant has undergone a period of growth in recent years with its buy and build strategy allowing the business to go from a four-park operator to a nine-park operator in just four years. At the heart of the company is its customer care ethos and its 250-strong team really do live and breathe the Team Verdant values – so it is no surprise that the business was shortlisted for these two important accolades! Nobull wrote and submitted both award submissions on behalf of Verdant Leisure back in June and then the company’s senior team were invited to present in front of a panel of inspiring guest judges.
Verdant was up against some impressive names in both categories including Avant Homes, Travel Counsellors and winners Shopper Media Group for the mid-market business of the year award. Unfortunately, Verdant was also pipped to the post on the customer focus award by deserving winners Close Brothers Retail Finance.
The awards were held at the formidable Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane and over 1,200 of the UK’s business leaders were in attendance as well as some household names! The wonderful Joanna Lumley was keynote speaker and the awards were hosted by television presenter Naga Munchetty. Other inspiring attendees and winners included Dame Helena Morrisey, honoured for her outstanding contribution to business and Kelly Tolhurst, MP and minister for small business, consumers and corporate responsibility.
I was particularly impressed with the speech from charity partner Mental Health UK. Lloyds Bank has been partnering with the charity since early last year, some of you may have seen Lloyds’ current TV advertising campaign raising awareness of mental health in the workplace?
We ate wonderful food, drank delicious wine and celebrated the amazing success of the UK’s SMEs and their fantastic contribution to the UK’s economy, plus I got to spend the evening with Stacey, Bev and Graham – the wonderful senior team at Verdant Leisure. I love my clients!
