I'm nearly three weeks into my 12-month placement at Nobull and so far, I can say I am loving it and already looking forward to what the next year has to offer.
I had my first experience of Nobull's approachable and friendly working environment in late July on a trial day, which immediately surpassed any expectations I had of a PR and communications company. After being offered a one-year placement position that runs in tandem with my degree in Business Studies with Marketing, I happily grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
Starting at Nobull just before the August Bank Holiday gave me an opportunity to be eased into the Nobull way of doing things with a short but intensive two-day week. During my slightly odd two-day week, I got to grips with basic system training and processes, not to mention the varied Nobull team.
The steady pace gradually increased, allowing me to become accustomed to the busy office life. This involved being delegated more client-based tasks and using some of the PR and social media-specific systems that enable Nobull to operate smoothly.
My second week also involved responsibility for using some vital office equipment that are (hopefully) found in all professionally-run PR organisations. Fortunately, the rest of the Nobull team, just a little more experienced than I am, were on hand to help me out if needs be!
As part of Nobull's automotive team, I began to work very closely with Account Managers, Jim and Charlotte, on some of the clients they oversee, which has allowed me to better understand not only the automotive sector as a whole, but the specific sectors Nobull's clients work in; invaluable for building my knowledge and understanding over the next 12 months.
This has involved poring over reports, press releases, campaign plans, social media schedules, sitting in on client meetings and going over event planning documents to bring me fully up to speed, including some of the unique terminology that is frequently used in the automotive sector.
All of this has further whetted my appetite to get stuck into PR, events, social media and everything else that happens at Nobull Towers on a day-to-day basis. Fortunately, this includes our very own baking competition, running alongside a popular ongoing TV show, (I've quickly learned that food is an easy way to start a conversation in the office) with unlimited cake for the next 10 weeks not to be sniffed at!
Here's to the next 11 months!
