Hylton Gott Volvo handover dealership’s last XC90

  • Kings Lynn-based Volvo dealership sells its last first-generation XC90
  • Steve Tilburn’s first day as DP coincided with the arrival of the first-gen XC90 in 2002
  • The all-new Volvo XC90 will arrive in dealerships from April 2015

Kings Lynn Volvo dealership Hylton Gott has sold its final first-generation XC90 just as customers begin to place orders on the all-new version of the manufacturer’s flagship off-roader.

Located on the Downham Road, Hylton Gott’s Sales Manager, Richard Dolman, handed over the dealerships last 64-plate Volvo XC90 to Mr and Mrs Webster of Ely as the dealership eagerly awaits the arrival of the brand new versatile 4x4 to their forecourt in Spring 2015.

Volvo launched the first generation XC90 12 years ago in 2002, the same time Steve Tilburn, Dealer Principal at Hylton Gott purchased the business. Steve took over the position of DP from Mr Hylton Gott on 1 December 2002, the very morning the first XC90s arrived at the dealership.

Steve has been working at the dealership for 36 years, starting out as a mechanical apprentice in 1978, progressing through to the workshop, working his way up to two managerial positions as sales manager then general manager before being appointed DP.

Steve commented: “Since the first XC90 arrived to the dealership almost 12 years ago on my first day as dealer principal, I knew that Volvo had brought a game-changing product to the 4x4 market with its outstanding combination of luxury, space, versatility and efficiency. The successor has advanced to meet the needs of a modern day driver; the technology created for the car is testament to Volvo’s commitment to customer safety.

“Over a decade later, the XC90 is more popular than ever given that even though the second-generation model won’t be arriving until next year, it’s already proving to be a huge hit with our customers.”
