So last weekend was Valentine's Day and @doublewoo and I decided to stay closer to home this year and treat ourselves to a meal at The Cape in Beaconsfield (@capegrandcafe).
I'd booked a table online a few weeks beforehand and we were really looking forward to it. Saturday night came around and we donned our glad-rags and walked down the hill to the restaurant (we're lucky enough to live in the gorgeous Beaconsfield!)
The place was buzzing and the waiting staff were really attentive. I started off with a vodka and soda with lots of freshly squeezed lime, the restaurant owner even came over to check I was happy with the amount of lime she'd put in my drink, they could not have been more helpful! @doublewoo had a Siren Craft Brewery Undercurrent pale ale. We then perused the A La Carte menu.
For starters we ordered the mussels and the lamb bobotie samosas – both were a hit then we shared the Cote de Boeuf with sides of spring greens and triple cooked chips, all washed down with a bottle of Man Vinters Cabernet Sauvignon. The beef was delicious and a real treat for us as we don't eat red meat very often.
@doublewoo then had traditional South African malva pudding (a more exotic version of the British classic STP!) while I had a fresh mint tea.
I would highly recommend The Cape to anyone wanting an intimate dinner, the restaurant is the perfect venue! It also does a mean brunch but I'll save that story for another time...
