Case Study: Chiltern Railways

Nobull Travel was brought in by Chiltern Railways to support its in-house PR team and raise the company’s profile beyond the traditional consumer press.

Project objectives:

To raise Chiltern Railways’ profile in the business and business travel media

To place Chiltern Railways as an alternative to main competitors – the car and Virgin trains

To raise CEO’s profile as an expert in the industry to increase positive brand association

To promote brand’s positive messages to fresh audiences and assist the press office in targeting new media sectors

Support and help develop social media activity

The Initial three month project consisted of:

Preparing background information to send key journalists in the business, fleet and business travel sectors

Placing interviews with Chiltern Railways’ CEO in target publications

Placing case studies in target publications

Hosting social media workshop for Chiltern Railways’ PR team

Distributing company news to niche, business and consumer media, increasing footfall and raising brand awareness

Key achievements:

¾ page interview with CEO in Financial Times

Placed interviews with five target publications within month one

Increased footfall on “Steam Train” tickets with coverage in Daily Express
