It was once considered very unladylike to appear at occasions, formal or otherwise, without wearing hosiery, yet in recent years bare legs have proved popular. The newest royal, Kate Middleton has made no secret of her love for sheer tights, sparking a return to a sophisticated sheer style.
If you want to make it to the Royal enclosure at Ascot, Tuesday 19th to Saturday 23rd June, Ascot Racecourse, Berkshire, you’ll need to dress the part. Ascot is the crème-de-la-crème of high society events and the strict dress code at the royal enclosure proves that dressing to impress is still highly important.
A visit to Guards polo club for the prestigious Cartier Queens Polo Cup on finals day, Sunday 17th June, Guards Polo Club, Windsor Great Park, is an event significantly tailored to style and elegance coinciding with all that Cartier stands for. With a little bit of luck the June event will bring sun, but rather than make a faux pas with the length or style of you outfit, or most importantly show up with an infamous fake tan disaster, why not always play it safe with sheer tights that emphasise elegance.
While you may be concerned about the width of your dress straps, the length of your skirt, or whether your head piece is big enough to comply with the regulations – remember that to achieve a royalty-worthy look, tights are a must-have. After all, streaky orange fake tan would definitely not be in keeping with the elegant and stylish atmosphere of these important summer social events.
Charnos offers hosiery that will last the course and give your legs a sophisticated finish and all over gorgeous, and even, colouring. Even if the worst should happen and rain threatens, you can feel safe in the knowledge that the colour on your legs will not run or stain your beautiful outfit.
Liz Brewer, Modern Day Manners and Etiquette Instructor, said, “Frankly the sight of bare legs is only ever appealing if they are beautifully smooth, unblemished and, it has to be said, belong to a young woman on the right side of her twenties. No matter how much time and effort you spend on great hair, fabulous make-up, elegant clothes and sassy shoes, you will not detract attention from blotchy, blemished legs or knobbly knees!”
