 | | I cut my event teeth on Peugeot’s 4007 launch. The rain, the mud, the lack of sleep and the pain (a week in wellies totally ruins your feet) prepared me for anything any other event could produce. So when the next project involved creating a summer fete in an aircraft hangar (complete with Inflatable Pub, Plate Smashing stall and giant clouds!), my reaction was one of elation; no tents, no mud, no rain… bliss! Or so I thought. One key element of the event was a vintage red London Bus to ferry our guests from their i10TEL to our fete location (the Top Gear studio no less!). On day one of the four day launch we had chuckled about whether the bus would survive the week only to be phoned, on day two 90 minutes before it was due to collect our guests, confirming my worst fears, the bus had broken down. With just an hour to find alternative transport for 40 people, my event head kicked in and, as the client said, “It was time to really earn our money”, after a dozen phone calls, and a thorough thumbing of the local Yellow Pages (event essential I find!) we had sourced a local luxury coach, complete with friendly, knowledgeable driver, that, in the end, we liked so much, we used for the rest of the event!, without heavily denting our contingency fund. The adrenaline rush from that moment kept me going for the whole week and beyond. Love it! | |||||||
